After 40 years of practicing law, I’ve gained valuable insights into resolving legal challenges. Often, I find myself taking on a hybrid role as a lawyer, counselor, and even life coach. In some cases, I’ve been able to guide clients through their hectic lives in a way that feels akin to being a business therapist.
One memorable instance involved helping a neighbor divide her assets equally between her two children. Initially, she planned to leave her jewelry and fur coat to her daughter and the real estate to her son. With warm guidance, I helped her see the importance of fairness, ensuring an equitable distribution of her assets. While her adult children may never fully realize the significance of what we achieved, they would have undoubtedly felt the imbalance had I not intervened.
